Abbey Road Studios is a music recording studio located at 3 Abbey Road, St John's Wood, City of Westminster, London, established in November 1931 by the Gramophone Company, later EMI, and now ultimately owned by UMG’s subsidiary Virgin Records.

Originally constructed in 1831 as a nine-bedroom Georgian townhouse, 3 Abbey Road was acquired by the Gramophone Company in 1929. The company retained the elegant Georgian façade but extensively remodeled the interior and garden to create the world’s first purpose-built recording studios.
