Curious about ookla download/upload latency : r/HomeNetworking - Reddit
www.reddit.com
Latency main factor that would make Speedtest inaccurate is distance. Speedtest usually looks for closest server to you. If the server you have issue with is somewhere further, you'll have more latency. In gaming, that's why your ping is higher when you're in server out of your region.
Which internet speed test is trusted? : r/HomeNetworking - Reddit

Which internet speed test is trusted and why is there such a variance between them? I used ookla, fast.com, and google’s internet speed test which gave me the corresponding 160mbps, 250mbps, and 580 mbps. I tested each website 5 times and the above recorded data is the average. It was generally consistent. These differences are crazy and I’m not sure which one to believe.

Speedtest.net is terrible. Full of ads and tracking. fast.com is by Netflix and has the advantage of using Netflix servers for testing. Sites like speedtest.net can be prioritized by ISPs to show higher speeds than the other real life traffic reaches. Fast.com is not directly privacy focused but it has no ads or third party trackers either. It is just a tool by Netflix. An alternative is ...

Entirely different speeds when testing from Speedtest vs Xfinity
www.reddit.com
Note the Xfinity "speedtest" shows the "speed to your gateway" - your gateway is your router, meaning you're basically testing the speed of your WLAN. Netflix runs speedtest.net (though I prefer speedof.me due to no JS, and ISPs are less likely to prioritize it and make exceptions), and will show the speed you'll get when streaming Netflix or browsing the web in general. In short: Xfinity is ...
What internet speed test do you trust? : r/HomeNetworking - Reddit

I generally go for Speedtest.net because that seems to be what most ISPs will use as reasonable proof of performance. When you say 400Mbps are you wired or wireless? What's your plan supposed to be? What kind of internet? You shouldn't need more than Cat5e for 1Gbps internet, but you will want to do your tests with WiFi disabled on a wired connection to minimize variables. Ideally 1 computer ...
