The Forum is a historic event venue at 318-328 E. 43rd Street in the Bronzeville neighborhood of the Grand Boulevard community area of Chicago, Illinois. Chicago alderman William Kent and his father Albert had the venue built in 1897, intending it to be a social and political meeting hall.

The Forum is located at 318-328 East 43rd Street (adjacent to the CTA station) in Chicago’s historic Bronzeville community. Built in the 1890s, the structure contains one of the most important assembly/performance halls of this community, as well as several transit-friendly retail spaces.

Since 1897, The Forum’s muscular presence at 43rd Street, with the “El”, its distinctive “Forum Hall”, and it’s six large retail slots, made it a South Side Hub for prominent performers, powerful politicians, parties and partygoers, and peddlers and patrons of all persuasions.

Our vision of The Forum is as the central hub for music, history, and community in Bronzeville. A place that is alive 7 days per week every week of the year. The Forum is poised to serve, once again, as the heart of social, political, cultural and commercial life in Bronzeville.

For more than 70 years, The Forum was a beautiful gathering place where music legends performed, community leaders organized and political movements took root.

After four decades of neglect, Build Bronzeville of Urban Juncture Inc. is working to revitalize The Forum in the historic neighborhood.
