The special connection between the Holy Name of Jesus [1] and His Holy Face was revealed by Our Lord to Sister Marie de St. Pierre, a Carmelite nun in Tours, France in a series of revelations on the devotion to His Holy Face between 1843 and 1848.

To try to condense the history and theology of the devotion to the Holy Face or attempt to describe the place in our prayer life for the “Veronica” or “True Image” of the Face of Jesus, and its relationship to our transformation in Christ, is far beyond the scope of a few paragraphs.

There is great power in the name of Jesus, and on January third, the Catholic Church celebrates the feast of the Holy Name of Jesus. We are invited to reflect upon this Scripture as we ponder the power of the Holy Name of Jesus.

Let us always pronounce the most Holy Name of Jesus with faith and respect. From the beginning of Christianity, we find power in the name of Jesus. Jesus expresses this when he says, “In my name they will cast out devils (...) they will lay their hands on the sick, who will recover."

The Holy Name is all-powerful because of the Person Who bears it; we honor it because of the command of Christ, that we should pray in His Name and because it reminds us of all the blessings we receive through our Holy Redeemer.

No Catholic should ever, under any circumstances, profane the Holy Name of Jesus, or allow anyone to do so in his presence. The Holy Name of Jesus is written 968 times in the New Testament.

Make us, O Lord, to have a perpetual fear and love of Thy holy Name, for Thou never failest to help and govern those whom Thou dost bring up in Thy steadfast fear and love: Who livest and reignest forever and ever. Amen.

Eternal Father, I offer Thee the adorable Face of Thy Beloved Son for the honour and glory of Thy Name, for the conversion of sinners and the salvation of the dying.

Thérèse of Lisieux was a French nun who received the Carmelite habit in 1889 and later became known by the religious name "St. Thérèse of the Child Jesus and of the Holy Face".

Face with Arius' obstinacy, he convoked a Synod in the year 320 to which Bishops from Egypt and Libya came. Saint Alexander excommunicated Arius, informing the Pope and other Bishops.
