Me and my friends are writing a ray tracer in DirectX 12 for a school project and I have followed Nvidia's DXR tutorial and got the pipeline and all the steps set up such that I can run it without any problems.
Ray tracing (graphics) - Wikipedia

This recursive ray tracing of reflective colored spheres on a white surface demonstrates the effects of shallow depth of field, "area" light sources, and diffuse interreflection. In 3D computer graphics, ray tracing is a technique for modeling light transport for use in a wide variety of rendering algorithms for generating digital images. On a spectrum of computational cost and visual fidelity ...
NVIDIA GPU Owners, Do You Actually Use Ray Tracing?
www.redditmedia.com
For those that own an NVIDIA GPU do you use Ray Tracing regularly in the games that support it? Did you buy your card specifically for it? Or do you believe it's absolute dishwater, and that Ray Tracing in its current state is very hit and miss? Thanks for any replies!
Raytracing – Wikipedia

Raytracing (dt.
Practical Tips for Optimizing Ray Tracing | NVIDIA Technical Blog
developer.nvidia.com
To achieve high efficiency with ray tracing, build a pipeline that scales well at every stage, starting from mesh instance selection and data processing to optimized tracing and shading. For dynamic objects, prioritize updates based on visibility estimated from ray-object intersections, and use shader atomic increments to count rays hitting each object to determine update priority. Optimizing ...
