Please add the OS and router model you have. BTW, you can connect the laptop both wired and wireless (eventually with a virtual network device), and test the transfer data speed between the two connections (The bottleneck is the wireless connection).

My network card appears to have two Ethernet ports. I'm trying to work out the theoretical maximum speed of those Ethernet ports - specifically if they are Gigabit (1000Mbit/s) ports or plain old 100Mbit/s.

Doing a speed test from PC to PC, etc may not be accurate because your computing power might need to be very powerful in order to push that kind of data. CAT6A would guarantee up to 90 meters whereas CAT 7 would be guaranteed for 100 meters for 10Gbps speed. -- At last, the cables may not matter because you may just have 1Gigabit network links.

I can speed test both locations of course, but that isn't necessarily representative of the actual throughput between the two points. Given the different ISP's and service speeds, I imagine I'd get different results depending on which end I test from. One connection has 3x the upload speed making it the better server end I believe.

Both PCs negotiate at 2.5Gbps mode as confirmed in the network adapter status screen. Both PCs have IPv6 turned off. The CPU load on the NUC during a speedtest never goes over 30%. I just tested the connection between the two with iPerf and Im getting 2.5Gbps between the two, so the full link speed.
