Light Red versus Venetian Red - WetCanvas: Online Living for Artists

Light red is more versatile than venetian red. It will usually see far more use, by itself, and also in mixes. Venetian red mixes better with the cool colors. I have four shades of iron oxide red on my palette, two of them are deeper than venetian red. They all find their use. However, orange iron oxide finishes quickest, followed by light red. The only thing that finishes quicker is ultramarine.
