I had tried to download WinDirStat to see what was taking up space on my laptop. I had found the site windirstat.org and downloaded it from there. I tried to see if it was the legitimate site, but I couldn't find anything at that time. I realized something was wrong when I got an anti-virus offer and kept getting offers.

Sinon, il y a aussi WinDirStat, un très bon programme qui représente de manière graphique l'ensemble des types de fichiers répertoriés sur le disque dur. Je les utilise tous les deux pour connaître la structure et le contenu de mon disque dur.

I noticed my C drive was constantly getting filled with stuff. I would free up space, and within a few weeks it would be gone. I ran disk cleanup periodically, and deleted old games and stuff as I needed to. But today I ran disc cleanup and it said it could only free up 25MB. So I ran windirstat to see what was taking up all the space, and the results were.... surprising, I guess? https ...

Which is the correct site If I google WinDirStat I see links to Windirstat.net and Windirstat.org. They look very different. Is one of them a scam?

I like WinDirStat. It's a good tool. And maybe I'm just an idiot, but I'll definitely be more wary of what I do with it after what happened to me today.
