Beshaba came into being when the deity Tyche split during the Dawn Cataclysm, a separate disaster relating to the machinations of Lathander. Tyche was infected with a taint of the dark god Moander and was forced to split into two parts by her friend Selûne.

Beshaba, like Tymora, arose from the corrupted form of Tyche. Once Tymora came forth, all that was tainted by Moander coalesced and stepped out as the goddess of ill fortune, Beshaba.

Beshaba is both beautiful and terrible to behold. She is often seen holding a pair of dice or a coin, which represent her domain over chance and fate. Her followers are known for their fatalistic outlook on life, believing that their fates are already predetermined and that nothing they can do will change their destiny.

Beshaba (pronounced: /bɛˈʃɑːbɑː/ be-SHAH-ba) was the intermediate deity of accidents, bad luck, misfortune, and random mischief. She was also a member of Tempus' pantheon during the Spellplague.

Beshaba (Beh-SHAH-ba), the Maid of Misfortune, is a deity feared and placated in Faerun much more than she is venerated. When represented, she is shown much like her avatar appears, as a lovely maiden with snow-white hair, her features twisted by maniacal laughter.

She demanded worship to keep her bad luck at bay. Her aim in life, was to destroy her sister Tymora, or Lady Luck. She also delighted in cursing others, often causing seafarers to lose their navigational instincts. Beshaba was revered more out of fear, than out of religious faith.

Beshaba The Maid of Misfortune, Lady Doom, Black Bess Beshaba is the counterpoint to Tymora and is just as frequently acknowledged in daily life as is her more benevolent “sister.” She is seen as a rickety bridge would ask Beshaba to keep the bridge intact.
