The web interface does not respect the setting where 'enter' sends a message (or not); pressing 'enter' does indeed send the message. I have composed letters in Word (including line breaks) and then pasted the text into the web interface, but this is overkill. So how does one create a line break in WhatsApp web?

I have it on "not optimized" to exempt it from dozing. But still the web/desktop app won't connect unless I unlock my phone and open the Whatsapp app.

How can I install Whatsapp web app on Ubuntu? I found a similar question How to install WhatsApp?, but here I am asking for the WhatsApp desktop webapp so that I can directly access the application

Upon installation, it creates a user account using one's phone number as username (Jabber ID: [phone number]@s.whatsapp.net). WhatsApp software automatically compares all phone numbers from the device's address book with its central database of WhatsApp users to automatically add contacts to the users WhatsApp contact list.

There is still no way to install a native Linux application for whatsapp, so I always use whatsapp's webapp with my daily browser (chromium based brave-browser). Everything works [mostly] fine, except when I need to click on a whatsapp link in a web site, that is supposed to open a conversation with a certain new cell phone number.

I don't use any Whatsapp client on Ubuntu, but from my computer I use Whatsapp web: https://web.whatsapp.com It's an official Whatsapp web site meaning as trustable as Whatsapp phone app. There are plenty of Firefox extensions that work with it. There is also whatsdesk, an unofficial client for Ubuntu.

WhatsApp Web does not work with Firefox 47.0.1 on Windows 7 64-bit OS. I have tried making it work after disabling the add-ons and restarting Firefox in safe mode, yet this did not resolve the issue either.

Does WhatsApp web require the computer and phone to be connected to the same wifi network simultaneously? Assume I've already authenticated and used WhatsApp web - then taken my phone outside the house (miles away, no chance of it still being connected to WiFi).
