In the past when I updated VirtualBox and then opened my Host Windows 7 System a message would pop up that I needed to install the new Guest Addition. I would do this by clicking on the Devices Tab and selecting " Insert Guest Additions CD Image" I did not actually insert a CD.

I had read on the web that, strange as it may seem, you have to restart the host and don't hesitate to do it several times. This may solve the problem.

The latter is known to often intercept CreateProcess calls. When you run a program (e.g. VirtualBox) as an admin, there's probably no need to intercept CreateProcess calls. I'm not sure why intercepting doesn't work between a fresh install of VirtualBox and the host reboot, though.
