There are pros and cons to buying it from home depot vs the plumber buying it from a wholesaler. Main thing is warranty issues. If the heater has problems the plumber that installed it will be able to either replace the unit or change parts with ease, won't have to call customer service and deal with all the bs.

Find a local cabinet supplier in your area, have them design your layout, which is usually free. They will also have a recommendation for a contractor and countertop person to do the work.

You realize those people are waiting outside Home Depot with the intention of someone hiring them for exactly this sort of thing, right? They discuss the project and wages with you before agreeing to do the job to make sure everyone agrees on the terms. Obviously they should be paid well but no one is getting exploited.
