The Forum is a historic event venue at 318-328 E. 43rd Street in the Bronzeville neighborhood of the Grand Boulevard community area of Chicago, Illinois. Chicago alderman William Kent and his father Albert had the venue built in 1897, intending it to be a social and political meeting hall.

The Forum Hall in Chicago, Illinois was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2019. Constructed in 1897, the Forum is representative of a late nineteenth century meeting and social hall. It served as the heart of the Grand Boulevard community’s society, culture, and commerce.

The Present: Bronzeville’s Forum for Culture and Hospitality Today, Urban Juncture is working to restore The Forum as a hub for culture, hospitality and socializing on Chicago’s Southside. We expect to begin restoration of the three retail slots that make up The Forum’s ‘West Annex’ in 2022.

Since 1897, The Forum’s muscular presence at 43rd Street, with the “El”, its distinctive “Forum Hall”, and it’s six large retail slots, made it a South Side Hub for prominent performers, powerful politicians, parties and partygoers, and peddlers and patrons of all persuasions.

At the Forum - The Bronzeville Roots of Chicago Jazz International Jazz Day 2026 in Bronzeville will activate the neighborhood as a living museum of jazz history, inviting residents, Chicagoans, and visitors to experience the birthplace of Black cultural innovation through walking tours, a jazz heritage bus tour, performances, and conversations.
