NBC gave Lewis her first network program, The Shari Lewis Show, which debuted on October 1, 1960, replacing The Howdy Doody Show. The show ran until September 28, 1963, and featured such characters as Hush Puppy, Charlie Horse, Lamb Chop, and Wing Ding, a black crow.

In 1992, Lamb Chop and Lewis began their own PBS children's show, Lamb Chop's Play-Along, an Emmy Award winner for five consecutive years. The show was approximately 25 minutes per episode.

Later in 1996, she guest starred on Sesame Street with Lamb Chop in the Street story for Episode 3525 and as part of a celebrity "Alphabet Song" rendition from that season.

A second PBS series titled The Charlie Horse Music Pizza ran from Jan. 1998 to Jan. 1999. In that short span, Lewis died on Aug. 2, 1998 at age 65 following a bout with uterine cancer.

In 1975, Lewis briefly hosted another puppet show that was syndicated, called The Shari Show. In 1992, her new Emmy-winning show, Lamb Chop's Play-Along! began a five-year run on PBS.

In the 1990s Shari Lewis hosted the Emmy Award winning children's series LAMB CHOP'S PLAY-ALONG/PBS/1992, a half-hour interactive show that encouraged children to participate by acting out stories, songs, stunts, games and activities.

In 1960, Lewis was offered her own show by NBC, The Shari Lewis Show. The show eventually transformed into Lamb Chop's Play-Along, which aired on PBS from 1992 to 1997, and received several Emmy Awards.

The show ran until 1963, and Lewis moved on to other projects. The 60s was not a good time for ventriloquists. But Lamb Chop made a comeback in 1992 with Lamb Chop’s Play-Along on PBS in 1992. It introduced her (and Shari) to a whole new generation of children, and won several daytime Emmys.

The character gained further popularity with The Shari Lewis Show and got its own children's show in 1992, Lamb Chop's Play-Along. Other characters she created and used in her shows included Charlie Horse and Hush Puppy.

During Shari Lewis and Lamb Chop's visit to Sesame Street in Episode 3525, they help give Sooey the Pig some confidence in herself. She then reveals she's getting her own TV show titled Pork Chop's Play Along and goes off oinking the tune of "The Song That Never Ends."
