Alex Grey's artworks bring together the tangible outer worlds investigated by scientists--full of molecules, bodies and stars--and the intangible visionary inner worlds-- full of light, shadow and spiritual beings--known mainly to mystics.

Our site and structures provide a living model of the ideals expressed through the collection, exhibitions, and the writings of founders Alex Grey and Allyson Grey—co-founders and Ministers of CoSM—and invited contributors.

The Church of Sacred Mirrors, CoSM, established in 2008, is an interfaith church. Alex Grey & Allyson Grey are co-founders & Ministers of CoSM. CoSM is a place of contemplation & worship for community honoring the practice of art as a spiritual path.

Works by painters such as Pablo Amaringo, Alex and Allyson Grey, Ernst Fuchs, and Robert Venosa, who all openly admit the direct influence of consciousness-altering compounds upon their art, have previously been loosely categorized under the category of "psychedelic art".

On March 16, 1976, Grey and his wife Allyson, herself a performance artist, a photographer, and what Grey calls "an active participant in my craziness" snuck into the morgue.

Alex and Allyson have continued to enjoy cannabis and journey with psychedelics. Part of the culture around psychedelics concerns personal sovereignty, which is often misaligned with established religious dogmas and other rigid institutional belief systems.
