Wario ... Wario (English: / ˈwɑːrioʊ, ˈwær -, ˈwɒr -/ ⓘ)[b] is a character in Nintendo 's Mario franchise that was designed as an antithesis of Mario. Wario first appeared as the main antagonist and final boss in the 1992 Game Boy game Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins.

Wario has two iconic vehicles usually seen in his series of titles: the Wario Car from the Wario Land series, and the Wario Bike in the WarioWare titles. In addition, he owns a plane called Bulldog, which appears in Mario & Wario and Wario's Woods, among other titles.

The Wario franchise is a spin-off of the Super Mario franchise that features Wario as the main character. It is the first franchise created by Nintendo to feature a villain/anti-hero as the main protagonist.

The series began with Wario Land: Super Mario Land 3, the first game to feature Wario as a playable character. The Wario series includes mostly platforming video games and minigame compilations, but also includes other genres.
